QueenQueen by Kerri Ann

Queen left me an emotional wreck and clinging to the very edge of sanity - yes, this has a bit of a cliffhanger - It is listed as a standalone as it is the first in the spin-off series. I do, however, suggest you read the books prior to this one - IMO it gives the story more depth and the reader a stronger emotional connection to the characters
I expected some fall out after King and Hector - I never saw the bloody Queen coming and if you thought King was vicious in his need to control and Hector with his vision to rule - the Queen takes "acquisition" and warfare to a whole different realm with her twisted ideas on the use of coercion, intimidation, and discipline to control her pawns
Be prepared this is bloody brutal at times - so many secrets and betrayals - I was never sure who I could trust and who was a pawn in the bigger game. Just wait for some of the revelations, WTH?
The determination of our heroine to survive at first left me a bit confused - Why not give up? No, seriously you will ask yourself the same question. But as the story progresses I began to understand what drove her and kept her going.
I am not a big MC fan, this is one of the very few series I follow-
I read a comp copy but this is a series I definitely recommend for any MC lover as well as those who enjoy darker suspense story lines

At His BiddingAt His Bidding by Ginger Talbot

No Spoilers - This is one of those you can't really be sure but you think you might know but then again Oh wait, OMG what? No! type of reads.

Let me start with our heroine Riley - You go, girl! Riley is a force to be reckoned with. I loved her wit, and tenacity her comebacks had me laughing so hard - she is loyal (mom needs to go!) to a fault with a heart the size of Texas. What starts out as a means to protect those she loves ends up putting at risk not only her family but the lives of those around her - Will her attempt at saving her family cost her more than she contracted for?
Gavin is one of our lead males - he had loved and cared for Riley during their youth until she walked away - When he sees an opportunity to help her and possibly rekindle their past he is the first in line to show her he is the only man for her.
Ashton - well the first part of his name is almost spot on. Ashton is angry and a bit self-absorbed. When he sees the woman who destroyed his childhood and his family up for auction there is no way he is going to miss the chance at revenge. A year with her having to fulfill his every whim? Revenge has never been so sweet.

I fell in love with Riley from the opening and some of the secondary characters also stole a piece of my heart- This is a softer style of Talbot's writing than what I am used to. It had more a suspense and mystery feel to it than the deep dark angst I am accustomed to and she did it so well!
The characters were easy to connect with and seemed on a more equal ground emotionally - if that makes sense. The story line flowed smoothly and kept me engaged - Until we hit about 80% -I do wish the closing did not feel so rushed - right when we get to the thick of things it seemed like she just summed it all up in a quick couple of chapters - I have questions!!
As a reader, I would have been okay with this being a bit longer
Overall though I definitely recommend - Entertaining with lots of twists and turns that keep the reader engaged

This Ain't Love (Harry Dukes Book 1)This Ain't Love by A.J. Love

😂in love with this gang 😂

What a fabulously fun and entertaining way to start a series!
"Hey. God! I quit girl. Can I get a p@#is now?"
Blake is the perfect tomboy - her character kept me in stitches
Blake and her bestie Ria have headed off to college - but a bit of miscommunication has landed Blake back in the middle of testosterone land
Cameron - the representative for the egotistical "yes, I am sexy" young adult just can't help riling up his newest roommate not to mention keeping his eyes (and his hands) to himself
Antics and mishaps abound when the two worlds collide giving college coed cohabitation a whole new meaning
Loved the vast array of characters -
It was the breakfast club without the outside drama
Kept me in stitches - if you are looking for a lighthearted college romance with all the bells and whistles
Do not pass this one up with

intention: a novelintention: a novel by Ava Harrison

It has been a bit since I have settled in with a true contemporary romance
Intention checks all the boxes
✔️ the best friend - the chaotic family- the emotionally devastating secret, the underhanded villain, the simple attraction, the angst - and the budding romance
Nathaniel is the typical rich playboy - he knows he has to settle down and adult - but he does not feel that that time is now - still hoping to take things easy for a while and appease his grandfather he sets out on a mission he believes will secure his future - He could not have been any further off from the truth
TInk - Maddy- Life has been a bit of a challenge - but she is strong and has set her mind on a goal - with absolute precision and control she will make the best of her future even if it kills her - she doesn't need a man - especially a smooth-talking British accented playboy who is taking up her space!
Tink and Peter (going to have to read it) are like oil and vinegar - two opposites who just can not find a middle ground
Overall this was an easy to follow romance that was entertaining and engaging, the storyline did slow during a couple scenes - and the resolution to their problem felt a bit rushed.
If you are looking for a bit of laughter -a bit of drama - a touch of angst and a sweet as sin romance - Look no further

Whiskey Witches (Whiskey Witches, Season 1, Episode 1)Whiskey Witches by S.M. Blooding

I fell in love with the Whiskeys' when I was introduced to then in book 0 - Over time this series has morphed into an absolute must read series for anyone who enjoys the supernatural genre - I own box set one which includes episodes 0-4
The Whiskey Witches are such a fun and entertaining series -
In book one there is a lot going on - we meet the primary characters and their standing within the Whiskey family and/or relation to- We also get to meet one of the primary antagonists (he is a bit unhinged, to say the least) as well as some other characters that I have yet to place as helpful or harmful - The story line is a bit like a roller coaster we have our slower build ups that include the characters and the universe that Blooding is creating - This is the first episode in the series and there is a lot provided to us - then suddenly we hit those fast-paced hearts in your throat scenes that have you battling your inner child from peeking ahead
I love Paige and I want Daxx (he grows on you I didn't click with him till later in the series)
If you enjoy paranormal with a lot of action and intrigue, dotted with comedy, and a bit on angst on occasion then this is a series you do not want to pass up

Keeping His Siren (Creatures of Darkness, #4)Keeping His Siren by Kiersten Fay

A magical romance that should not be missed!
NetGalley comp'd me a copy and it looks as though this is book four in this series - but not to worry as this quite easily read as a standalone.
Naia and her brother Cole are the world to one another and when Cole finds himself in a bit of a bind Naia accepts a proposition from her boss that just might save her brother and clean up the streets at the same time - WIN WIN! Right? Wrong! Nothing in life is ever that simple.
Cortez is the intended target and all Naia has to do is get a job working for him. Not only will she help Cole but it will also give her a few extra dollars and feed her inner Siren - Easy Peasy! Not! Cortez has other plans for Naia.
Poor Naia, hurdle after hurdle seems to pop up in her way. What should have been simple -in and out -has now placed her siren at exposure and her brother's life at risk. Can Naia find a way to salvage this mess or is she destined to be just another sacrificial pawn in a game she did not even know she was playing? And can she convince Cortez that all is not as it seems?
The storyline flowed seamlessly keeping me engaged and enchanted from the opening scene to the closing dialogue. The supporting characters were brilliant - I truly hope that they each have a story. The chemistry between Cortez and Naia was explosive - Fay did such a magical job of writing these two characters. Let us not forget the mayhem and suspense that kept me a bit on edge.
I do wish I knew a bit more about Naia and Coles backgrounds but I believe that I will get many of my questions answered in past or future releases.
