Taking Control: An Alpha and Omega dark science fiction romance (The Controllers Book 1)Taking Control:  by L.V. Lane

4 fabulously developed stars
This is LV Lane's debut novel in the world of Omegaverse
Not only was this a debut but it was also a first in series which I am immensely looking forward to continuing.
I had a bit of trouble with the beginning of the story. For me, it felt like events occurred a little too quickly leaving the reader without important details. As though we were just given the highlights if only to get us moving along.
I admit I almost bailed -
I'm really really glad I didn't.
Once the story gets going Lane sends to find her groove and wow does she deliver!
Yes, there are missing pieces and some questions, at least for me, were left unanswered. I cannot deny however that a few chapters in I was completely engaged and immersed in the characters and the storyline - I was definitely wanting more

"Many people presumed all Omegas to be submissive and altruistic in nature. Nothing could be further from the truth"

I want to start with the world building - absolutely fantastic!
The idea of the virus, the reasoning behind the war - the controllers, the scientist - the results - FIve stars for the uniqueness and the creativity

Eloise was a delight as a lead character. She has spirit, is highly intelligent and damn if she isn't a brat. At times she seems like she has a level head on her shoulders other times she might as well toss her little arse on the ground and throw a tantrum. In the beginning, I wasn't sure what was going through her head or why she felt the way she did (this is an area I do not want to reveal because it is part of the draw that kept me engaged). As the story line progresses we get so much more insight to her - I greatly enjoyed watching her hold her own against Legion (okay fine the attempts). The slow build chemistry between her and Logan was faultless.

Speaking of Logan- I had a real problem with him at the beginning of this story. I couldn't connect with him at all. His character felt almost hollow to me. Again this changes dramatically as the story line progressed. I will refer back to how I felt the beginning was rushed. This was one of the areas. Thankfully by the end of the story, I would have gladly laid across the lap of my own Logan πŸ˜‰

Even the supporting cast had my heart by the end.

I look forward to the next chapter in this series and am eagerly looking forward to seeing where Lane takes us
So much potential - this should be a fabulous journey

Do You Do Extras?Do You Do Extras? by Nikki Ashton

Best AB workout I've had all year
This is one romantic comedy you won't want to miss

Phoebe is a blast! Witty, not afraid to speak her mind and has an uninhibited zest for life.
Grantley is a no-nonsense (egotistical) actor on his way to the top. He doesn't have time for socialization. He definitely doesn't have the patience or time for bumbling extras- until said bumbling extra calls him out.
Let the sparks fly!
The supporting cast flawlessly weaves their humor and sarcasm into the story line adding just the right amount of magic to bring all the laughter, romance and a small touch of angst together crafting a must read rom-com.
This is a sweet and slow build romantic comedy that kept me in stitches from the first collision to the last
I adore the twins!
Mom - I hope her plane goes down over shark-infested waters.

Sweating Lies - Criminal Delights: Taken (Lies #1)Sweating Lies - Criminal Delights: Taken by Emma Jaye

Strap in good in tight - This is one wild ride

In not even sure where to start
Suspenseful - Engaging - Entertaining - I couldn't put it down - I was fighting my inner child not to peek ahead - I so desperately wanted to know what happened next.

Jiao is undercover and when he makes a conscious choice to risk everything to save someone - things go south, real fast. Jiao awakens to a reality that leaves him questioning everything he once believed. Can he hold strong to what he knows is the truth? Or will he end up just another cog in the cults wheel?

Kaspar is content to serve his master, to serve the order. When changes suddenly are made Kaspar finds he is jealous, lost and questioning the truth that he has for so long believed.

There are so many great supporting characters in this story. The unexpected plot twists and the "Holy Chit" factor are off the charts!
I wanted to peek ahead and make sure everyone was where I thought they should be.
I wanted to close my eyes and turn away.
I wanted to comfort.
I wanted...

This is a collection of short stories by multiple authors - each book is a separate story but all revolve around the same theme
Be prepared as they deal the some of life's darker evils and Jaye - She held nothing back
I want to say real quick a section of this takes place in Anita Grays Blaire's world.

Sociopath's ObsessionSociopath's Obsession by V.F. Mason

This is my second time down the rabbit hole that is Sociopath
I am a fan of VF Mason's - her serial killer series is one of my favorites.

Sociopath's Obsession is a slightly dark read (though my definition and yours could vary greatly) - It still is not for the faint of heart. It contains torture and violence. It has scenes of abuse. But overall it is so much more

The story line draws the reader in from the opening scene in the garden (Romeo and Juliet eat your heart out) and sets us on a path of misdirection and complete anarchy. We believe we know who the villains are and who the heroes are - Psych!

Sapphire is a fighter. Going from elite status to near gutter residency has only IMO made her stronger. I enjoyed that the author let us watch as her blinders were slowly removed and she saw the world and its inhabitants for the truly vile creatures that they were. Oh, and the woman that is supposed to be her mom ..just WoW!

Damian is an arse. He uses his looks and power to manipulate and then just tosses his spoils to the side when he feels temporarily sated. When Sapphire becomes the jewel he wishes to possess things get a bit jaded for him.

Dominic is the perfect book boyfriend. Sweet, loving, considerate and slightly geeky. He is also Damian's twin. They are two very different souls but the bond they share is something that can never be broken.

Sociopath IMO is so misunderstood (yeah I am laughing). He is careful about how he chooses his victims. He is careful about how he ends their existence. They are guilty of the most heinous crimes so their pleas for mercy fall upon deaf ears and their blood runs freely decorating the walls of his dungeon

We are taken down a rabbit hole of obsession, betrayal, revenge and ultimately forgiveness
This ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, maybe.

Remnants of Evil (McAllister Justice Series Book 6)Remnants of Evil by Reily Garrett

Abbey just wanted to escape it all - A chance to drown herself in adrenaline-inducing bucket list activities - A chance to forget - Literally drowning was not what she had in mind.
Royden just wants his girl back. He knows she is hurting, running from the nightmares that still hold her in their grasp. He will move heaven and earth to make her feel safe again. Question is will it be enough?
From the moment I opened this book, I was entrapped in Abbey's journey. Who will be the next mark? Why those specific acts? How is she going to find her emotional footing if the darkness never lets her go? And most importantly can they stop whoever is behind this before he makes his final move?
Garrett weaves a suspenseful on the edge of your seat thriller with Remnants. From the opening chapter till that final exhale as you close the book she guarantees to entertain and engage her readers.
This is one of those series I honestly will need to go back and start from the beginning. There is a strong emotional connection between the supporting cast (her family, both two and four-legged) that transfers over in each of the episodes. The brothers have their own stories also but it all interconnects in a subtle 'background' way.

If plot twists, white knuckle on the edge of your seat action and sweet (steamy) romance sound like a "Yes, please" then I definitely recommend the McAllister Justice series.

Heartthrob (American Royalty #1)Heartthrob by Robin Bielman

This is one of those -
A romance that invokes all the fuzzy wuzzy, marshmallow feel-good emotions that are the reason I delve into the pages of a romance.

I fell in love with both of the main characters right from the green light!
Chloe just has so much energy and heart and darn if her daddy didn't raise her right. Her world has been one loss after another and yet she still sees the sunshine in the cloudiest of skies. I will say she is a lot more forgiving than I would be.
Finn is the perfect book boyfriend. Fun, athletic, he gives off the whole boy next door vibe. Finn has had a rough time of it himself. Despite being American Royalty his life has not been easy. He has secrets and scars of his own.
The two of them together? A Grand-slam!!

If you are looking for the perfect afternoon read that evokes all those happy notes - this is definitely it.
Laughter, a little angst, the trials of a loving family (I can not wait to read the brothers stories) and a whole lot of sweet romance.
