Room 553: A Psychological ThrillerRoom 553: A Psychological Thriller by Britney King

Speechless!
You know what they say about assumptions?
This was the perfect example of why you should never assume anything.
Max is so laid back. He is recounting to Dr. Jones, too a degree, the events that led up to his arrest.
It is a bit eerie how disconnected he seems.

Laurel comes across more clinical yet a tad "touched" (?) as she recounts the same events via a journal.
Both their spouses are real pieces of work.
I truly do not want to risk any clues that will give away the answers or reveal any plot lines.
I will say - This is a definite must read!
I couldn't turn the pages fast enough
Each new breadcrumb, every little reveal ~ either derailed my previous beliefs or reinforced my inability to wrap my thoughts around all the twisted possibilities.
This is an intensely twisted must read!

Dakota for me was a bit of a love /hate relationship. Being the baby isn't always as easy as we think so I will give her a bit of leeway. She is a straight up tomboy who has no problem playing in the mud (reminds me a bit of myself). She has a heart of gold and it shines in everything she does. At times she said or did things that later came back to bite her in the backside.
It isn't always easy doing what's right when it feels so wrong.

Easton where do I even start with him? Like Kota, he has a heart of gold and is willing to sacrifice for those he calls family. He fell for Kota that first day. Personally, I think it was her shooting crayons out her nose that cinched it. Time has passed and Easton finds he has a second chance to go after the one his heart truly wants ~ Kota.

Watching these two traverses the waters of judgmental friends and misguided beliefs was a bit like the tilt a whirl. One minute I thought for sure the ride was over the next I was white knuckling my reader and screaming for the ride to stop. Yes, there are some pretty intense moments as well as some very sweet ones.

I found the story line easy to follow. We travel back in time (via memories) which for me only intensified the connection between Kota and Easton as well as solidifying the friendships as well as the events that led to their choices.
The secondary/supporting characters were just as engaging and had me wanting to travel further with this cast, didn't really want to walk away.
Hoping Hope gets her story.

Alpha Hunger (Alpha Hordesmen, #1)Alpha Hunger by Milana Jacks

What a fabulous first in series!
I'm a big fan of Omegaverse reads and Jacks delivered with
Alpha Hunger.

She blended the alpha/omega dynamics with a breath of newness. This is one of the few I can recall where the Alpha truly puts his Omega first, above all else.
And Raven, aka Hunger, is all Alpha.

"Raven" The bird that foreshadows death. Whoever named him nailed it at his birth -
He is the conqueror, the Prince - Her Alpha.
He has the edge I expect from an Alpha with the tenderness I want from a true pairing.
I know I'm asking a lot but Jacks' delivered.

"My nature is to conquer. Prepare your body and mind, for I will invade every inch of you" - Hunger to Anna
Anna is a stubborn thing. Smart as a whip, honest to a fault and strong when she has to be. It is nice to have a heroine that has a true backbone. One who can display her softer side while still standing up for herself and her beliefs.

Then there is Christy. I can't wait for his story.

The story was fast paced yet easy to follow. IMO a solid foundation was built for the series with several directions the author can go. We are given just enough background to keep us sated yet still hungry.
Terrific cast so far. Most we are just given glimpses of; again just enough to connect with them and stir our curiosity.
I think the author is enjoying the tease.
We get a little angst mixed with our betrayal and the start of what looks to be quite the exciting and suspenseful series.

Scars of SilkScars of Silk by Anna Bloom

" So many secrets. So many damaged shards of who we are. Two broken people. Him with his bruises, and me with my aching hollow in the place of my heart. "

If you haven't had the opportunity to read Faith's story you should start there. This picks up a few months before Faith and Elijah's story comes full circle. Nice try but No I'm not spoiling anything.

Dan is in a really dark place. He wants it all to stop but he doesn't. Just a chance to sleep, if only for a little while.
He has the biggest heart and the savior syndrome runs strong in his blood. Oh (fanning my self) but when it comes to closed doors and Ms. Sienna his sense of control never falters. Those two are Hot together.

Sienna is a bit like a ravenous viper. She sees something in Dan that calls to her on a personal level. It reflects in his eyes, those crystal windows to his soul. His pain and something else, something he is trying to hide. She has decided to call him on it.

Spark meet Kindling!

I wanted Dan to get his HEA and Anna Bloom delivered.
Could there have been a bit more - definitely?
Are there questions rolling around in my head that demand answers - you know it.
Would I read this over and over -

Key to Hell (Hell Night, #4)Key to Hell by Alex Grayson

Emo's story...
Ripped my heart right from my chest and left my soul bleeding at my feet.

Emo has always held a special spot in my heart. He loves the deepest. His emotions are closest to the surface and he knows no way to express them. He knows pain and loss and that is all he believes he is worth.
Deep down Emo knows he is not responsible, but knowing and accepting are two very different things.

Rella was kept in the darkness the longest. Betrayed repeatedly.
After her "rescue" she found solace in the blade in knowing the control was hers.
She finally found a semblance of peace in a prison of her own making.
Left broken and alone she finally reaches out for help.
A chance to heal the wounds. To be whole again.
Her story broke me.

Grace ~ I truly think her soul matches her name.

Through this series, we have been given glimpses of the hell they endured. We have watched as each one traveled from the darkness. We were there when they found their slice of Heaven.
We witnessed as justice was dispatched, as wounds were healed and hearts were mended.
This was not an easy journey, it featured glimpses of life's real monsters.
The author makes no apologies.
There is no candy coating.

Sorrow's Queen (Cavalieri Della Morte Book 13)Sorrow's Queen by Murphy Wallace

"Roses have thorns, and water can drown you. "

I didn't think there could be any more "OMG" moments in this series that I wasn't prepared for.
Blood, violence, dub con - these are all things I expected. Sorrow and Queen though -
I was not prepared for their story.

When this journey started I contemplated all the ways I could make Sorrow pay. I'm serious. I get the whole alpha attitude, but Sophie was an innocent. Sure, she was a handful but let's be honest she was only fighting against the tyranny and the extremely outdated belief that it was okay to use her as currency.
Man up Tristan!

I did question Arthur's approval of Tristan's assignment. Sophie isn't quite 18 yet and she is not a willing participant to the original assignment.

I was not prepared for the twists in this story line. When our lovely author threw my emotions under the blade I felt every strike, deep. Even though this was a short story I was attached to the characters. Our anti-hero, what can I say he was salvageable.

For those who are looking at this series for the first time - it contains some OMYW , lots of violence, rivers of crimson and some dub as well as non , and a few other possible triggers.
Oh and most have some sort of Happy For Now.
(Yeah I am laughing with that part)
