Seriously though ✋ this is the third book in the series and you will be lost if you haven't read the prior ones. Even though this trilogy concentrated on Cash and his little bird 🐦 it is also the beginning of what I believe will be a wonderfully twisted and suspenseful series.
There are too many unanswered questions at this point.
Twists that we have only seen the first helix of.
From the start of the series, this has been a bit of an up and down emotional roller coaster for me. I loathed Cash while at the same time I felt there was some good in him if he could just pull his head out long enough to see the light. As we came in to book three I was at a loss as to how this would play out. Olivia was the last one standing it seemed but not for long if our Queen had her say. Olivia has occasionally gotten on my nerves and this closing chapter was no different. I get she was trapped between what the heart wanted and what biology demanded. Yet...
She has grown immensely since her original captor I just hope that growth continues
Okay before I forget - OMG!
A couple of twists that the author tossed into the story line took me so far out of the geography I thought we were in - the entire map of the story has changed
Listen carefully to what the wolf 🐺 says

Okay I feel a small bit better
Things are so fubar'd at this point
We lose an ally (or two) one that was close to my heart
We gain knowledge of who is behind the attacks - Ewwww so do not want to go there
Every time I think the Howe witches are on top of things someone throws a spell in the works and complete anarchy ensues
Cassandra's Cosan has a lot more patience for that girl than I do. Right now my heart is a bit torn.

I wanted Levis story and I was not disappointed!
He seemed so laid back , like he had it all together
Nothing could have been further from the truth

Astrid was always living in the next moment. A great thing in a game like chess or when you're taking on a King.
But when it comes to matters of the heart ❤ not so much.
Astrid gave as good if not better when it came to 'returning' the favor. Some of her stunts had me rolling.
I think her ability to meet King 👑head on was a good thing.
Not just in the sense she didn't just roll over and accept defeat - even when she was pummeled pretty ruthlessly - but idk, it opened something -maybe exposed is a better word - in Levi.

I admit it took me a bit to figure out exactly what was here and what was there and why here did not always match what I perceived it to be.
We travel with Lucy as she wanders the hallways of her sub-conscience trying to find her way back to the present though the now is also happening now or I think it is...
Lucy starts out a bit meek IMO but do not judge to quickly. She is young and has always been directed as to how she should think and what the outside world consists of. She was very sheltered. Watching her journey through the maze of her mind and seeing the changes , the adaptions of her persona was what I enjoyed most about this tale. She became a formidable opponent by journeys end.
For me it was more a journey of the psyche than a romance. There is romance but the way the author kept us entangled in Lucy's nightmares was what kept me engaged.
This had all the things I expect from my fairy tales - a bit of evil, a bit of slight of hand , a whole cast of misdirection and one formidable prince charming (sort of)
