I didn't want to leave Ella and Tray.
This is the first episode in the Midnight Fae series. kind of an intro into the midnight fae world if you will via our darling Ella's tale.
This is not your normal bully romance nor is it your run of the mill fairy tale redo
No - This is pure magic cast out to ensnare and engage the audience
I was laughing, cringing, battling down my anger and cuddling my kitten when things got rough.
Tray and Ella were perfect together
Their chemistry
Her stubborn nature
Tray's unending patience
Her strength
His need for bloodshed ( seriously he would rather kill them all quickly and be done with it. Kind of sexy)
Then there are the hall's reigning monarchs
Charlie - Ewwww - I think Tray had the right idea here
Dash - prince charming needs a personality makeover
Ryan - the vilest of stepsisters
Carmen - the airhead step sister
From beginning to end an enchanting read that only left me wanting more.

Oh, Arson you blind fool.
Arson is doing what he does best, causing chaos. When what suddenly appears? An angel, and Arson, well, being Arson isn't about to turn his back on such a beautiful gift.
"Once upon a time, an angel fell to hell where a devil found her"
Callista has lived her own version of hell on earth. Even when she was ensconced within "heavens" gates she was not safe from the evils of man. She learned over time how to keep the darkness at bay. Careful to pick her battles.
A bit immature,
A tad stubborn
But filled with all kinds of fire.
Arson's character has always seemed just a touch out of reach. Out of all the protege, IMO, his darkness was different. Not that they all arent a bit on the scary as he ll side. Arson lacked any form of empathy it seemed and he was angrier. I knew his story would be special and Mason did not disappoint.
This was a whole new side to Arson and I liked it. Yeah in previous episodes we were given brief glimpses of the man inside the monster but here - we see the real boy, the one who was betrayed.
Most of the gang and all of the horsemen make cameos in this episode. (*squeals with happiness)
You may want to strap in tight for this ride - because the turn?
Sooooo did not see that one coming.
I do still have a couple of questions that were not answered (* clears throat)

I love this series 💞
This one was a bit sweeter than the previous two but packed a wallop of feels
I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh or cringe or cuddle.
Poppy is the "it girl" - Not by choice trust in that - just unlucky enough to be the town's gossip project. She decided long ago that the only sacrifices she would be willingly making were for her parents and that did not include engaging on an intimate level with any of the currently available Everton bachelors (not that I can blame her). In a desperate moment hoping to avoid the slimy clutches of Patrick Poppy grabs the closest lifeline she can find - anyone has to be better than Patrick right?
Poppy is a mix of people-pleaser and fairy. Something about her just radiates happiness, she's sprinkling that sparkle everywhere.
Our unsuspecting Harris is immediately drawn into her spell only to find that he enjoys being doused in her verbal spillage and mindful tantrums what he does not like is how the town uses her personal life to fodder their gossip.
Can Poppy and Harris pull this off long enough that she can get a breather?
Will the town gossip mill uncover their little deception?

I enjoy this cast immensely. The way each of them is a part of the overall story line and cast in each episode. The strong sense of family and friendship that is displayed in each release. The feels.
It is a bit like coming home each time I venture into Everton.

Edwards did a formidable job of bringing Elise's pain to life
Of bringing me, the reader, wholly into the story.
I could feel her silent shame
Her need to justify what she believed others saw as a weakness
To right the past
I was a wreck from the beginning to the end.
Elise is fighting so hard to regain her self confidence.
To find the woman she once was.
For her daughter
For herself
Leo was such a formidable presence.
A light in her moment of need.
He didn't understand in the beginning but once he did
He was her rock
Her support
Her hope
Simon may your new roommate show you the same loving devotion you showered upon your family
This is one that will have you hugging your pillow

The cast is from the Tanglewood series but this can easily be read as a standalone and you won't be lost. You may want to read the series though. A great cast that is easy to connect with.
Anders has always been a bit broody (?) now we know why.
He followed in his parents' footsteps 👣 and took up medicine. Taking care of those who are unable to seek proper help.
His life is on course to accomplish his greatest desire ( I can't tell you!). His goals are within his grasp, that is until a sexy slip of a woman challenges all his instincts and pulls his eyes from the board. Just for a moment. Seems that moment was all she needed to change the rules.
Natalie has her own dreams she is following - and secrets she must protect
Life for her is a bit abstract, like her favorite works of art
It is meant to be interpreted by the eye of the beholder
This time Natalie sees something a little different and chooses to act on it
A decision that may cost her everything.
Can Anders make peace with the past?

Gemma wanted to avoid the spotlight. It was a new start and chance to forget the past, and if it wasn't for a freak mix up she most likely would have.
Now it is just a matter of surviving until graduation
Gemma is a rock. She has attitude and she has the skill required to back it up. That is until Lucas took something that wasn't his then tried to turn the tables.
You may be their king but you are nothing more than a thief to Gemma
Watch your back Saint this is one game you may lose
The push and pull between Gemma and Lucas was what drew me in and kept me
Lucas was lost in so many ways and I think Gemma really undersold herself when it came to her resilience and strength
These two feed each other constantly keeping the chemistry between them dangerously volatile
Until it can no longer be contained
This was an easy to follow story line that has a solid cast and well crafted secondary characters.
There are a couple of areas I would have enjoyed a bit more "meat" when it came to a scene - a bit more of the why? and how?
I felt the scene deserved more
I am eager to see where the series takes us.
I think I know who will fall next
