Carlos by M. Tasia is now live!
After being in self-exile for years, famous artist Carlos Fernandez emerges to a new life and a new love.
ART IMITATES LIFE
Seven feet tall, Carlos Fernandez is a famous artist who's been in self-imposed exile. His size, and the scar around his neck from a garrote attempt, has him looking so scary people stare, make rude remarks, or challenge him to fights.
He decides to move to LA to live near his brother at whose wedding he meets Clay Everett, an LAPD officer with hyper-protective instincts.
What starts as a shaky friendship turns into something more. Carlos works at coming out of his shell and Clay is surprised to learn he has the capacity to love deeply.

This is the 6th release in the Gates series. I suggest reading the series from the beginning (i missed book 5) as the cast is more like a family and each member plays a significant supporting role in the individual couples' stories.
Carlos felt he was ready to take the beginning steps and enter the chaos that is peopling...
The first step was to relocate to The Gates, be closer to his brother
The second was to walk among the people again face the world as he truly was
Time can only heal so much - sometimes you have to take the initiative to move forward
Sink or Swim
You will never know until you do
And this time Carlos had a true family at his back
Clay has a more reserved look at the world but Carlos sees through his gruff exterior the first time his eyes land upon him.
Carlos, being a little socially awkward, shares his observation with Clay.
LOL you can imagine this did not sit well with him
Thus it begins
This is a bit of a love at first sight romance. Carlos, an innocent in many ways, and Clay being the jaded soul he is are actually a perfect fit. Clay is natural protective but not overbearing and it allows Carlos to bloom in a way, IMO, he never could have had it been anyone else guiding him through his journey.
I do wish there had been a bit more substance(?) when it came to certain events in the story but I also accept that this was a shorter read (or maybe I just devoured it faster IDK) and that was not possible.
This is one of those series that has all the feels and the characters stay with you long after the closing page.
Each individual story provides a touch of suspense and mystery
the bonds of family
and the intimacy and discovery of a new romance
A wonderful addition to the series
