Sam McAuley isn’t having a great start to the summer. Served with papers? Great. He’s being sued. Perfect, pristine yard overrun with chickens? What the—? Clearly, the new guy running the animal rehabilitation centre next door has no idea what he’s doing.
Our Thoughts 💭:
I wish this had been longer!I know he got his HEA 💖 and that he was going after his dream career.
I guess I just didn't want to leave
This was a sweet romance with make you smile moments and just a sprinkle of angst
The Perfect Sunday afternoon read.
Bo was trying so hard but people are selfish creatures by nature -not Bo mind you. He had so much love to give and no one to give it to.
I'm glad Sam finally decided to craft his own judgment instead of going on the word of others.
Sis? I probably wouldn't have been so nice but I don't have Bo's heart of gold either
Tripaw? Wish we got more of you
This is one of those all the feels romances
It is a short read so a lot of the details are left to your imagination
But that's okay because I still came away with a big smile
Did I want more time with them? Absolutely!
More deets on the family and the ranch? You know it
I think that is the point with short stories -
If the author can capture my heart in just a few pages and leave me a touch sad when it is time to go?
Then they have delivered

I know I said this when I was discussing the first book but I have to say it again
"He is the poster child for "misunderstood" villains" - Oh and I licked him so he is mine!
This is (if possible) a touch more twisted than the first in the duet.
A bit more violence - a bit more graphic and if truth be told
A whole lot more intimate
Vlad knows what he wants and Maxine does eventually figure it out to the heartbreak of everyone close to them
That was a twist I thought I saw coming but the other twists and Bella?
This is the second in the duet and a definite must-own

Damon is recovering from a pretty severe game injury but the headaches and dizziness aren't his real problem -

Facing being benched for practically the first half of the season and no answers as to who might have done this to him he has no choice but to relent to Quinn's "great idea".
Desperate times and all that -
Things couldn't get any worse -

Meet Evie Wolfe
A P.I. that has a nose for the truth
And a body that is pure temptation
These two were oil and water from the get.
I was a bit peeved at Damon in the beginning but he turned out to be so much more.
Evie, at first glance, did not meet Damon's idea of arm candy but she had an ace up her sleeve that was guaranteed to leave Damon a drooling puddle of need.
I wish this was longer!
I have never read this author's work - but after Dare to Tempt?
That is about to change!
I want more -
More of this cast
More of the banter, the family
The smoking hot sexual tension
The light suspense that kept me engaged without drowning out Evie and Dawson's story
I can not wait to meet the rest of the family - Read their stories
Definitely recommend this one

This was such a brain teaser!
Seriously a lot of information is presented but only for a small portion are we given all the deets, and even then we are only given a moment to process before Huss twists the plot once again.
I was constantly trying to piece this puzzle together but I still do not have a full picture
I definitely wanted more from this read, but being a duet I am pretty sure all the pieces will fall in place in the next in series.
Normally I would say you had main characters and supporting but here? I think many of what I would consider secondary play very major roles in this game.
Cadee's world has been stolen she stands alone a pawn in a game she did not know she was playing - OOOHHHH and does she have secrets!
Cooper was being buried by a burden he did not want and a crown he had no intentions of securing
Ax was the rebel of our little group. The darker side if you will
Lars is the balance between them all
Dante is the epitome of the realms of hell
and Victor - What is your problem?
Mona - I like you
This has all the trappings of a solid bully romance -
The secret society - The skeletons in the closet - The misplaced anger - The rebellion -
Let the games begin!

If I thought it was good then now?
WOW!
I am going to start with this is a dark omegaverse, sort of reverse harem survival romance troupe 😂 There is so much more to this series than just the basic omegaverse.
Renegade an omega breeder who's only purpose is to meet the needs of the highborn prince to provide for him an army of mixed breeds.
Well, pooh on that idea!
Just wait for it.
Renegade is highly intelligent, a touch of a prankster who has no qualms in doing what it takes to find her amusement and even the battlefield.
All is fair in war and breeding.
Sinadim and Balkazar, Micha, The twins, the Feral (an unknown at this point) are our male pack of leads in this story.
Might I say they are an eclectic collection of personalities?
Sinadim is a bit of a horses backside IMO.
I think at this point I like Balkazar better
🤷 I am sure that will change as the series progresses
Danvers did a complete 180 with how she developed this story. I am a fan of her previous work so when she came out as MD 🤩 and announced we were getting an upgrade to this series?
I was salivating 🤤
The background story made all the difference for me. I felt a deeper connection to Renegade, I was there, a part of her survival - rooting her on when things looked pretty hopeless
(Sure I didn't do much but shout and cringe but I was still there - don't get all judgey)
If you read this the first time around forget everything -
This is a whole new experience and one you do NOT want to miss
If you enjoy darker omegaverse reads and are on the fence
GET OFF!!!
This is one rabbit hole you will want to explore!
Oh and this ends on a cliffy

The Lying Season is listed as a standalone within the series meaning you can read it by itself though if you are like me I suggest reading the previous episodes.
Lark, I know you are trying but you need to take a stronger stance on occasion girl. And stop spreading yourself so thin (yes I mean that in a couple of ways)
Sam, I think you sold yourself out there in the end. I am just not 100% sold on your final choice.
I had some issues with events - I will try not to ruin the twists
Sam, was she your consolation prize?
If it was epic why did you wait a year?
I really liked Sam's character and I wish we knew all the 'deets' about what happened five years ago - everyone else knew!
Yes, I am pouting because I want the juicy details, not just the brief outline tossed around when you two are arguing about it.
I felt lost a bit when the characters would briefly reference a past event - it seems these events took place in previous books but since I came in here it was a bit like walking the fun-house in the dark
Soooo not fun.
I didn't quite get the connection with the cast that I prefer - that is me and as you know with contemporary I need that connection to get fully immersed in the story.
The story line flows smoothly and the cast is engaging.
I am sure I would have been over the moon if I read the previous books before this one.
I have added them to my TBR list as I solidly believe that this is a five-star series if I had all the background I prefer
