Made me smile Have you ever found yourself grinning 😀from ear to ear when reading a scene?
Found yourself so invested in the story that the happiness, the laughter spills off the pages?
This was like that for me
Absolutely so far fetched yet perfectly believable fun!
The sweetest of tales of two "misplaced" rivals who suddenly find they have more in common than just some soured grapes
I would gladly trade my SB refresher to spend the afternoon laughing and loving with these two dukes
And to give you an idea of what I'm trading it is currently 104 out 💖

This ends with one of those
wrench out your heart, shred your soul scenes
The kind that leaves you grasping for some sort of understanding while pleading for a savior you know isn't coming
And no I'm not exaggerating
Lies?
This story is one convoluted twist of deceptions and misdeeds after another
Lacey finds herself in a position, this time, to take charge, to find answers. That wasn't true when she was five and her world collapsed. Now she is older and wiser and she is going to get answers.
Okay really? She doesn't have a solid plan but hey that's okay
I enjoyed the male leads Banjo and Rafe. Don't know a whole lot about Colt, at this point he is more of an unknown. We know he has issues with our Lacey but not sure what or why.
And our female antagonist who to me seems more the scared little girl reacting but 🤷♀️ at this point I am not trusting my instincts with any of the characters.
The story flows smoothly/. We get multiple pov's which I prefer.
This is not a typical bully romance, or at least to me it does not feel that way. It is more balanced, plausible? If that makes sense.
There is a lot of unknowns floating about that ugh 😬 I wanted answers - Yes I know it is part of the suspense but it is killing me!
Just wait for the twist, or twists I should say Holy Guacamole!

Ceecee is a fireball of contradictions.
She is not someone you want mad at you. But if you need a hand she's your gal.
Well, once you reign in her temper that is.
From that first burst of rain she had me laughing, she doesn't pull her punches.
Jake is a conundrum as well. When he first stepped foot onto the scene he was a self-absorbed arse but with each lightning strike (🤣) and cloud burst his armor slowly fell away exposing the softie beneath all that armor
Jake is seeking a missing warrior which has led him to the reservation where he thought he could just smash the gates and grab his answers - He didn't count on the little terror that took him to task.
Ceecee the little terror mentioned above is assigned to work with him to solve the murders and she is not a happy camper.
After a bit of bumping heads a lot of misguided jabs
Yep you guessed it
All heck breaks loose and our little duo ends up battling a bigger problem
This was a very laid back and fast-paced read.
Lots of humor and action.
Some very smexy character interaction - these two were just a blast as a couple. The constant bickering with innuendo undertones. The sweet moments that occurred between them.
I was surprised at how much trouble our little heroine seemed to get into and how much they accomplished in a few days.
A great poolside or lunchtime read.

I knew Reed would give Curtis a run for his money!I was excited to how this played out for the two of them
Curtis was such an arrogant piece of work and after the whole debacle with Law and Matt - which he could have handled a bit better but I get why he did things the way he did -
I was looking forward to his eventual capitulation to the glittering charm known as Reed
I am a bit heated at the way he dealt with the return of his past.
I get Noah knew and they had a plan in place.
But to do that to Reed?
I don't know if I would have given him a second chance.
Thankfully the persnickety bi*tch fate stepped in and gave a bit of a push
I am really curious about our "newcomer"
Seems he plays in the darker pool and he knows a lot more than he is letting on
This is the second book in the series - Honestly? I am not sure if they are standalone or not but I personally recommend reading them in order. I fell in love with Reed in the first book which provided a deeper connection for me to the cast in this second episode.

I went five stars - I know I am normally really stingy with my stars but
Holy crispy crackers!
This isn't a typical bully romance -
There is actually a strong story here that is easy to devour yet still hints at mysterious unknowns and hidden possibilities
Like dear old dad? What's up with the attitude?
Fallon is trying to get a fresh start - evading her emotions might be a better definition but she is still young and I can see where her mom is coming from -
Her nightmare well take time to heal
Right now she needs space and shadows -
She needs to be unseen
But maybe she is confused about what she needs?
Jesse is still a bit of an enigma for me - He is harboring his own burdens- His own skeletons - ones we are yet to be privy too
The on-page chemistry between these two was almost tangible
I found myself enraptured by them
The relationship between them felt natural -
It is a slow build but it burns something fierce
Yes there were some things I was not completely on board with
that is me though I can be really particular
I have all kinds of WTH questions but I think they will be answered in book two
Oh and this ends on a major betrayal twisty cliffy
So... Yeah don't throw your reader because you will need it to see how this plays out
