Excerpt
Lucas: This meeting’s way too boring. What are you up to, love?
Me: Do you like reindeer?
Lucas: Thanksgiving’s been over for days, so I guess it’s reindeer season.
Me: LOL, yeah it is. But do you like them?
Lucas: I always feel sad for Grandma.
Me: Are you talking about that reindeer song?
It’s not really an answer, hon.
Lucas: You called me hon. Okay, if you like reindeer, I like reindeer.
Me: Okay. You’re so not helpful.

“Miss? Are you ready to check out?” the cashier grabbed my attention.
“Sorry! Yes, please, thank you,” I replied fast and piled my items on the conveyor belt. “I would also like a bag. Thank you.”
“Not a problem,” she replied and started scanning. “Oh, I love the tie. I bought a similar one for my husband. It’s going to be a hit when the holiday parties start.”
“That’s good. I’ve been debating on getting it the whole line,” I admitted.
She gave me a cheeky look. “New boyfriend?”
I blushed. “Something like that. It's very new.”
“Congratulations, girlfriend. Reel him in with gifts and home-cooked meals. Men like that.”
I laughed. “Well, Mom did teach me how to cook well so I have that going for me. But, isn’t it supposed to be the opposite? The man showering the girl with gifts?”
The cashier winked. “Honey. No way. Men love gifts. They are like teddy bears. They may look hard on the outside, but inside they can cry at Ironman’s death, too.”

excerpt 2-

“I’m so happy they fixed whatever that needed fixing,” a woman said.
“Yes, I paid too much to not be able to use the pool,” another woman replied.
I quickly dressed. I was happy I took everything with me to the showers from my locker so I could quickly walk past the women.
“Do you have a jacuzzi tub in your room?” the first woman asked.
“Yes, but I’m using more of the fridge. My bill is going to be huge,” her companion replied.
I squeezed water out of my hair.
“Have you seen the men at the restaurant? The single ones who don’t sit with wives or girlfriends? Now, that’s what I call high class,” a new woman’s voice sounded.
“I saved for months for a night in this hotel. I’m hoping to grab at least one successful man’s attention,” a fourth woman said.
“Oi. The workouts at the gym… They better be worth it. I lost twenty pounds,” a fifth woman said.
This place was really filling up.
“It helps that you spent that two hundred dollars on the swimsuit from the hotel. It’s attention grabbing,” the third woman said.
“Look who’s talking! You spent three hundred. If we don’t catch some men with these, there’s the morning in the restaurant,” the fifth woman said.
“I’m just happy my ex has the kids today,” the fourth woman said. “It’s nice to get out and enjoy myself.”
“Look out, world. The cougars are out to play,” the third said.
“I’m only okay with you calling us that, Darla,” the fifth woman said. “But when someone else says it, I want to empty my wine on them.”
The women laughed.
I was finally finished with dressing and getting my stuff together. I walked out of the showers, put on my shoes, and walked past the women. They eyed me as I went. I smiled shyly as I left the dressing room.
Lucas was talking with men about stock prices as I neared but before joining them, I maneuvered to the bartender. The young guy was the same from the last time.
“What can I get you, Miss Tanner? On the house,” the bartender said.
“Oh,” I replied, a little uncomfortable. I looked back at Lucas, who was still talking and then back to the young guy. “I would like something sweet, but I don’t know any drinks. Thank you.”

What inspired you to write this book?
I like to give myself writing challenges. One of the challenges I gave myself was to try to write a rom-com. Sweet romance with a hot flirtatious man and a shy woman.

What can we expect from you in the future?
My WIP is a paranormal romance filled with an unwanted mate, Slavic deities, Japanese Kami, and unlikely mates. I’m really proud with how it’s working out. After that, I’ll return to writing a book where a girl is zapped into another place and time and not all things go smoothly as in fairytales.

Do you have any “side stories” about the characters?
My ARC team is telling me to write High Rise Proposal and High Rise Marriage so maybe if I get more interest, I’ll write those.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in (Name of book)?
Lana Tanner works for the city in the voting department. She doesn’t have a lot of dating experience and at one point has a funny interaction with Lucas Wolfe. Lucas is the owner of the hotel where Lana stays for a couple of nights and is used to getting his way of things without thinking how they may reflect on others. There’s a good scene in the book with the carpet that shows he has much to learn.

How did you come up with the concept and characters for the book?
Oh, the characters come to me. They write themselves after the premise of the book takes life.

Where did you come up with the names in the story?
Searching for names on the internet and asking friends if they want their names to be in the book. I’ll take name suggestions. ;)

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
I enjoyed writing Lucas. It’s hard for me to write flirtatious men and when he was on the pages and actually flirty, I was like - SUCCESS!

How did you come up with the title for High Rise Love?
The idea was for one of characters to be afraid of elevators and elevators are better in high rise buildings. It’s a romance so I put the two together and came up with the title.

Who designed your book cover for High Rise Love?
High Rise Love cover was designed and created by me. My other covers have been created by me or my sister, Acacia Parker, Inna K.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I’m not sure yet, maybe I need to receive more reviews for me to answer the question. ;)

Did you learn anything during the writing of your recent book?
Rom-coms are difficult to write. Contemporary fiction is much harder than paranormal. It’s easy to add a magickal moment in paranormal fiction to move the story along. It’s not possible to add a vampire attack in a rom-com lol

If your book was made into a film, who would you like to play the lead?
Anne Hathaway for Lana and Aaron Taylor-Johnson for Lucas.

Anything specific you want to tell your readers?
My characters speak sometimes formally in situations because of their upbringing - serious parents or status. And, that’s what I like about them, they talk in different ways and hopefully more adult than teenager lol

What is your favorite part of this book and why?
It was fun writing about the cougars and the diamond martini. ^_^

If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?
Lucas. I bet he could teach me on how to make millions! ^_^ We would hang out at his hotel and have a dinner.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
They have some attributes from real people, but mostly imagination.
Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
Hijack like always.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
It’s a sweet romance without sex. It’s about adults with real values and one could learn life lessons from Lana. A book can still be amazing without the sex scenes. Read my story to prove me right.

Have you written any other books that are not published?
I have 3 WIPS so yes but they will be published this and next year.

If your book had a candle, what scent would it be?
I’ve been told liking the scent of clean laundry is crazy so since I can’t choose that, I’d say paint scent. Artsy.

What did you edit out of this book?
Bad sentences! I adore my editor and my PA was helpful with finding stinky typos haha
