Balancing work and home
I struggle to balance my work and my home life, especially since my office is in my house. It’s far too easy to pop into my office “for a minute” to check on something or set up some marketing. I usually end up not coming back out for a half-hour or longer, and only then because someone came to check on me.
Writing is my passion and my calling, but even I need a break here and there. When I’m not sitting with nose glued to my monitor, I enjoy reading, going to state parks, and spending time with my family. We have a ton of movies and board games for family nights/days. Or we’ll make a day trip somewhere. Both kids enjoy going to museums and the zoo, and so do I.
Reading is definitely my go-to way to relax, and I read a lot of different genres. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of horror, teen fantasy, dark fantasy, and reverse harem horror/fantasy. Some of my favorite authors are Darcy Coates, M.J. Haag, Katie May, and E.J. Dawson. My shelves also hold graphic novels, mysteries, various romance genres, and even a teensy bit of non-fiction (of the ghostly variety).
What’s your favorite genre? Or are you like me and read something different every time you pick up a book?
Award-winning
author Jessica Coulter Smith has been in love with the written word
since she was a child writing her first stories in crayon. If Jessica
isn't writing, then she's like reading. Her favorite books are
romances, but she also enjoys the occasional mystery or general
fiction book. Romance is an integral part of her world and she firmly
believes that love will find you at the right time, even if Mr. Right
is literally out of this world.
Thanks so much for having me on your blog!
