I read this in two days - I had to sleep and watch the granddaughter otherwise I would have read it cover to cover in one sitting.
Bastian had been an 'asset' since Major Valentine rescued him as a child. He stopped believing in her "greater good" a long time ago and began fighting for something more. So when he finds himself being escorted back to the compound by Captain Mortimer he knows to bide his time until he can escape once again.
Only things don't work out as smoothly as he planned

I adored Bastian
He is just a touch broken when it comes to interacting with others
He uses humor to deflect from emotional vulnerabilities and sarcasm to keep everyone at arm's length and away from his darker truths
Henry is more of a head-in-the-sand follow orders kind of guy
He does what he is told, disregards that niggling voice that is telling him something is not quite right
Until the truth is no longer something he can ignore and brush aside
But he has his secrets too and their revelation may cost him his life
There is so much to this story
Edge of your seat action
Heart pounding suspense and twists
Angst
Betrayals
A great cast of characters each with their own unique quirk - they complimented each other while making the story that much more adhesive(?)
The romance between these two is secondary to the awesome story -
in my opinion - They click right away however their relationship develops naturally over the course of the story
I could go on for days
I do want to say the blurb IMO as well as the cover did not do this story justice
Ramble over :)
I'm excited to see where the author takes this

I get Ande was gun shy - but how do you justify doing something like that without verifying the facts first?
I sort of understood the quick to judge reaction - the information was from a somewhat, maybe, reliable source - still you had that nagging feeling - listen to it!!!
I can't say more because it's a major plot in the storyline
Still - the betrayal bothered me
Cory was so devoted to making this second chance with Ande work
Nothing was out of the realm of possibility when it came to proving to her that she was his One
Even when the odds were against him
Can Ande accept Cory's world?
Can Cory prove to Ande that she is his One?

Michael has one final act to complete -

He picks the target if Luci wins Michael will back him
Jordan (little warrior) has about had it up to there with men and their egomaniacal bull duckey
She never would have said anything - but nooooo big bad baby needs to make sure
Add into that problem she seems to have a really really missing a lot of screws stalker
That's okay though - She isn't going down without a fight
Yeah this has some dark moments, lots of triggers but it was so highly entertaining, one laugh after another, and the sweetest of love stories - Even the king of hades needs someone to love him
One of my favorites in the collection

This has the ruthlessness you expect from a good mafia read as well as hot-as-hades chemistry between the couples all wrapped in solid storylines that stay with you long after you close the pages

I experienced this story via Audiobook (the first time - I did grab a physical copy after)
Needless to say, I was looking for reasons (cleaning, mowing, driving) that allowed me to stay with Finn and friends (at times even enemies)
The journey begins with Fenn who awakes to find himself in a strange land with no memories. He sets out to get answers and along the way finds new allies as well as some enemies and some secrets.
This started out a bit slow as different characters, and the overall storyline was introduced - take it for the breather it is because once our little trio begins their journey there is no stopping for tea time - okay we do pick up a couple more additions but even then we don't get the time to catch our breath.
It was one mishap, one revelation, one adventure after another
The cast is an eclectic blend of characters, both the main and supporting brought a different tone to the storyline. Some are pretty dark and twisted, others provided the voice of reason and some were just there to cause mischief.
Some stole my heart others I wanted to toss into the myst
Despite all that is happening the story was easy to follow. We the readers are essentially Fenn - a blank slate and with each flip of the page, we acquire new knowledge, pieces of the puzzle as well as more questions at times than answers.
I am looking forward to the rest of the series
