My Thoughts 💭:
I seem to do this quite often 😳 this is my first time reading anything from this series and I can say from experience it can be read as a stand-alone though it did leave me curious about the previous books.
I found Shayn to be a somewhat docile(?) male lead. Oh, he has the Alpha gene when it comes to his denya and he has a secret weapon to back up his growl. But at times he seemed a bit complacent? Not even sure if that's the right descriptor. He is the caregiver, the careful one and it showed in his actions - most of the time 😉.
Naomi compliments his personality well. He knew she had the gift of sight so following her suggestions was never something he second-guessed.
They just clicked
Naomi was a bit more complex as she was raised to believe that she was helping that her sacrifices were for the greater good. In my opinion, those experiences are what provided her with such a strong sense of acceptance when things began to implode.
The flow of the story is pretty steady a couple "OMG No" moments and some very tender scenes between our two main characters.
However, I'm very curious about what happened to the organization -
I want to know more about the hows and whys of Naomi's childhood.
I'm also really curious about the other 'patients'
Also, what did they do to Naomi?
What does AI know that she's not telling? I loved her snark.
I didn't get all my answers but I did enjoy the journey and am looking forward to the next in this series as it stays with this cast.

Ever read a story that left you drained?
Not in a bad way just took a toll on me
So much to process
Scenes that a hit close to home that exposed forgotten fears
It wasn't just what the author put on the pages - the black and white
It was the storm of emotions
it was the intent behind the words
it was all she didn't say but alluded too
“Some lessons can’t be taught,” “Just learned. Don’t you think?”
Tiernan was always front and center but never really seen.
She tried so hard to be seen -
Just one brief acknowledged moment would have made her complete.
Noah with his heart of gold just wanted to fly
Kaleb was trapped in the nothingness
Frightened
Wanting to be heard but not knowing how to speak
Jake wanted forgiveness
A second chance

My Thoughts 💭:
It took a couple of chapters for me to get invested in this story but rest assured once I was hooked it was a bit like binge-watching your favorite show. You just have to know what happens next.
Mia tested my patience at times -
She is set on proving to herself and the world that she is more than a brainless princess who can post great selfies.
At first, she seems pretty likable and only a touch the spoiled brat
Her goals are commendable
But then her behavior completely flips and then flops back and well she left me a touch nauseated at times.
She figures out pretty quickly that she isn't the only fake personality in her predictability unpredictable version of reality
Hey it's reality TV and they are playing dirty
Deacon is harboring some serious daddy issues
Despite his demeaning overbearing self absorbed behavior
I liked him -
Sure at times, I wanted to toss him into traffic and watch him play frogger but ...
He doesn't (for the most part) pretend to be anything he isn't -
A low down dirty dog who likes to chase the skirts
As the back story slowly reveals I found myself in his corner
Oh and Karla honey - you might want to seek professional help
The physical chemistry between our two main characters is instant but it is believable.
Both are strong personalities that exude that confidence that draws people to them.
I liked how they both knew the other was up to something but felt they could overcome any frivolities, such as emotions, and come out the victor
Watching them fall - priceless
I look forward to the next in this series

This is my first time reading 📚 this author/series
It was a quick attraction, fated mates romance
But it was done so beautifully
I was captive from the omega's first attempt of subterfuge to her final capitulation
Don't misunderstand at no point was she less than a 👑queen
Adalai was such a softie! Yes he was the Alpha King but he wasn't lacking a heart he was just a bit self absorbed I guess you might say
He never thought beyond the walls and the one man who should have kept him informed failed (though that is another story)
I do wish this was longer but it is the first in series so I hope as the author moves forward we get more substance
The series plot is laid out in this episode
We get hints and little bits but only enough to pique the curiosity... no solid answers yet
Lots of action
A possible betrayal
Mystery and suspense
Oh and the sweetest of romances
The author definitely used the carrot before the horse trick as I was left needing to know and am delving into book two next

I need more - No Spoilers
This was not an empty bully romance there was so much more to this castEsme suddenly finds that her life has been a lie. All the love and happiness - her very definition of family is about to change.
In a world where misogynistic beliefs rule Esmeralda finds that she must choose her battles carefully if she ever intends to escape with even a fraction of the woman she once was.
Archibald - the drawing of the man and boy says it all
Caleb - I'm torn when it comes to him. He is a touch on the psychopath side but I have to wonder if it is nature or nurture? Not enough evidence yet to sway me firmly to either side. Is there hope for him? I don't think so but...
Cal - I have hope for him and BB
Cal's dad? All the smiles and jovial personality? Don't buy that act for one minute
Mr. Forbes "father" Satan's spawn dude needs to be strung up
I had a feeling about the little secret that was exposed in the end -
This is a first-person read - not my favorite but the author did a bang-up job of engaging me. I had no problem connecting with the characters.
The story grabs right from the get and doesn't let go.
As always I have questions!!! I know, I know.
But come on so many breadcrumb trails and juicy tidbits were just tossed about how could I be anything else but wanting more?

This is an insta- capitulation story - normally that doesn't work for me - But with Persephone and Luther, it felt natural.
As the story progressed I found myself curious more involved
it was the little things -
Random thoughts
Simple acts
That drew me in had me wanting to peek ahead just to reassure myself - I didn't though but it was tempting
I'm still trying to figure out Luther's weakness - besides Persephone -
He has everything a man(?) could want but for what Demeter can provide him, which I think I know but it doesn't fit, has me at a loss.
His character seems empty void of empathy, but if that was true what about Conor?
Persephone, on the other hand, is just a hormone-driven little nymph. She reminds me a bit like someone with a chocolate addiction. She knows better than to indulge but OMG the way it melts in your mouth, the burst of flavors on your tongue - more! I gave her a pass because for some reason despite her not so innocent innocence I liked her character.
Then there is sweet innocent eyed Decker who only wants to give Persephone the world (hack, cough)
This ends on a cliffhanger leaving me with all my original questions and even a couple more I didn't originally have because everything just changed
