Even If It HurtsEven If It Hurts by Marni Mann
Description:
From USA Today best-selling author Marni Mann comes Even If It Hurts, an emotionally charged contemporary romance. When you have a perfect marriage, only an impossible reconnection could make you risk it all.
My Thoughts 💭:
I've just closed the final page and I need a moment.
I have all kinds of questions that I'm sure will never be answered
What a heartbreaking read -
I confess that I lost my battle this time with my inner child and read the final pages when I was only a couple of chapters from the end
I couldn't do it - I was a wreck - I just couldn't ...
Normally I wouldn't be so upset with what happened
And I'll be the first to admit I wasn't that big on Lance when his character first came on scene, but he grows on you.
He was 100% - that's a rare jewel in today's world.
I wish the author had devoted a touch more time to their relationship.
I do understand Chloe, truly I do.
Love is forever, especially true love, whether it is your first or your last. The emotions stay with you they embed their memory deep within the soul - Life can take you from the physical but it can never erase the echo of what once was.
Do I agree with what you did? No, but I do understand.
I felt at times like Lance was a capitulation for Chloe, that she loved him but was not in love with him. Too many times she justified why he was the perfect man. I can not pinpoint why but I felt a lack of depth to their relationship like it was based heavily on the physical aspects.
London you were her first and those feelings will stay forever - nothing can match that - but maybe the echo was all that was meant to be?
The connection between Oliver and Chloe was, in my opinion, more of an emotional one than what she had with her husband.
Again I would have preferred a bit more time with Lance and Chloe. I think that is where this fell short for me. I just did not get the connection with Lance.
My heart was still ripped from my chest and I was left reeling in the possibilities
I hope we get the story of a certain someone. I truly think he deserves the stars.

Cyn (Beast Horde #3)Cyn by Cari Silverwood
Description:
They are legends and myths made flesh and bone.
Cyn, Vargr, and Rutger know what they are and where they came from, and the source of their experimental DNA is both mind-blowing and frightening. One of the three is wracked by monstrous changes.
As for the Ghoul Lords… their eyes are slowly opening, for the beasters are their first worthwhile foe for thousands of years.
Will Cyn, her lovers, and the beast horde be enough to save humankind?
This apocalypse should be a whole lotta filthy, violent, and steamy fun.
My Thoughts 💭:
If you are here I am going to assume you have spent time with the boys already because this is the third book in the trilogy and the climax.
If you didn't start at the beginning but you enjoy a good monster/alien story line with spectacular characters, creative cultural references not to mention jam-packed with all sorts of dirty bits then you need to go back
Go on before I send Big Mo after ya
"What profit a human if they gain the world but lose their soul?"
Cyn has a decision laid before her that could turn the tide of the war but it could also cost her soul.
To do or not to do?
Cyn has been fearful of the unknown since the first time her 'blackout' injured those she called friend. Now she knows that her DNA may leave her an even greater threat and that realization hits hard for her. She finally feels a part of something.
From the beginning, our harden warrior has hidden her softer side, except when it came to her mates. Rutger and Vargr were able to see past the facade see the little girl who needed guidance and craved touch.
A couple of times on this journey they did make some poor choices A bit petty if you ask me it was not like she tried to kill you intentionally you were in the way!
These three fit together so seamlessly! Each brought something to their partnership that made it a true triad.
In this final episode, our band of mixed genetics and questionable personalities band together to defeat the GL.
Strap on, in, whichever you prefer and hold on tight because things are about to get a bit messy!
The chances for success are marginal at best
Allies are not as forthcoming as once believed (but you know who will fix that problem)
The countdown has begun and time is running out
Bonds are about to be tested and all hands, tentacles wings, and robotic arms will be required if we are to succeed.
But never fear because Cyn is here!
(okay maybe fear a little because she can be quite scary)
What a way to wrap up this trilogy!
Though I am hoping our new fearless leader gets a story and maybe a gargoyle or monster as well -
And let us not forget a brain and the alien that consumes her ...
So many new possibilities lie ahead untainted just waiting to be exploited (explored).

The Lies We Tell (The Four, #1)The Lies We Tell by Becca Steele
Description:
Starting over after my father’s sudden death was bad enough, but the four boys who rule Alstone College, my new university, are determined to make my life even more difficult. One in particular. Caiden Cavendish.
My nightmare. My shadow. My stepbrother.
My dad’s death was an accident... Lie.
My life isn’t in danger... Lie.
The Four won’t bring mayhem to my life... Lie.
I don’t want Caiden Cavendish... Lie.
Lies.
Lies.
Lies.
Eeny, meeny, miny, mo.
The Four are coming for you, Snow.
My Thoughts 💭:
Uh, he ll to the no!! You did not just leave me in the dark like that!!!
This ends on a nail-biting blood letting cliff hanger- and not just a little cliff
There are so many "WTH" and "OMG Why" moments leading up to the close of this first episode
My heart is racing
Snowflake (Winter) is playing Nancy Drew. She is pretty sure her egg donor knows something about her father's untimely death so off she goes. It's time to meet the Cavendish family and find her answers
Mrs. Cavendish (AKA the egg donor) is a piece of work as the story progressed my immense dislike for this woman did as well. Such a waste of oxygen.
The only thing more repulsive than her egg donor mother is
The Four
Caiden is the spoiled self-entitled sexy as sin eldest Cavendish who loathes Snowflake with a passion that borders on obsession.
The chemistry between them does not (IMO) ignite until a little after a third of the way through. There is a lot of push from both sides but denial is the river they are both swimming in. Once Caiden capsizes (with a little help from his friends) all bets are off.
His brother West is his complete opposite - except the whole sexy thing, I think all four have that alpha aura going on - a computer whiz and an absolute sweetheart West seems to be the anchor for the four.
Then we have Z brooding, dark, dangerous and so many flavors of yummy. We do not know a whole lot about Z at this point.
And my favorite Cass *sigh* the comic relief of the four and possibly the next sanest besides West. He is also the reason Snowflake never melts.
Like Snowflake the Hardy boys (plus two) are seeking out the answers to their own mystery.
Can Winter find her answers before The Four decide she is a hazard?
Can she get the information she needs before her world is forever tilted on its axis?
Who is the pinkie dude?
Why is the egg donor such a female hound?
This was a solid read - easy to follow - great characters
For me, it really began to develop around a third of the way through
Something just clicked for me and I was not closing the pages until I had answers

Fall of Angels (Halfway Between #3)Fall of Angels by Kathryn Ann Kingsley
Description:
Asmodeus lied to me.
While I shouldn’t be surprised, to say my feelings for the archdemon are complicated is putting it lightly. But now, I don’t even know if I’ll ever have the chance to decide how I feel about him.
Unfortunately, I know the terrible truth.
Asmodeus told me that I was the only homunculus he made that survived—but there’s another one. The leader of the deadly cult that’s been abducting archangels and archdemons, Octavian, is just like me. He’s a creature made from the flesh of others and given a life he didn’t want.
My Thoughts 💭:
10 Angelic Fallen Stars
This trilogy has it all
*Suspense that will have you holding your breath
white-knuckling your kindle
*A Unique blend of Tones that engages all the readers' emotional planes
- Some may even have you questioning your reality
*Characters that span both sides of the moral fence
- Gray is my new color
We pick up right where we left off
Terrified Trapped and Tortured
Veil surprised me in this final episode. She has a strength to her.
I am not talking her physical, though she can kick arse with the best, her sense of self (?).
She weighs her current reality before reacting and how she responds - Okay, for the most part, she is a bit human after all.
It's hard to put into words but I think those who have journeyed with her will understand.
What she faces in this final chapter - I'm so sorry
Octavian I get it I do I just wish you had chosen a different method to test your theory.
Asmodeus - I was wrong so wrong
Azriel - You were not wrong, but a soul can only take so much before it must bend.
Kingsley has that magic touch few authors have.
She can weave a universe that will test her readers' boundaries. That will entertain but also cause pause pushing readers to think outside the box.
Question those black and white lines
But isn't that what fiction is all about?
What if?

The Omega Rule (Omegas of the New South #1)The Omega Rule by Sharilyn Skye
Description:
2020 TopShelf Book Awards Nominee
Some family feuds don’t die; they bleed so deep into the soil they grow roots.
This one is ripping the country apart, but only those embroiled in it know it’s being fought.
Half dead from her last estrus and desperate to save her homeland, Eve makes the difficult journey to the Capital of the New South in an attempt to court the only Alpha she thinks might be honorable. She offers him herself, her nest, and her submission if he allows her to get to know him first, gives her a semblance of choice, and at least listens to the plight of her people.
Only The Alpha isn’t much of a listener, and he neglects to read the document he signs out of frustration to get his hands on the exotic beauty in front of him. After taking Eve as his, he finds that holding an Omega who moves like smoke isn’t as easy as he thought.
Contract broken, Eve lies, steals, and takes what she needs to gain the strength needed to fight a war none of them can afford to lose. The Alpha may not know it, but the fate of the New South lies in her hands.
My Thoughts 💭:
Skye is a new author for me - Truly not sure how I have missed her work!
I love my Omegaverse and this! This was a whole new reason to want to get immersed in a different verse
Lukas starts out as a typical chest-thumping know it all Alpha arse! Smexy as he ll ,a somewhat okay ruler, but when it comes to common sense? His mama taught him better! (speaking of I loved that little spitfire)
Eve (as most Omegas tend to be) was wickedly smart, stubborn beyond fault and vicious. No really. The girl was deadly!
This series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. And this tale takes place in the New South- and yes it is as fun as it sounds. From down-home southern cooking to generations-long family feuds. It's all here.
Eve is trying to get help - I don't want to give spoilers so I will be vague - she offers Lukas her complete submission at the end of the contract period if he follows the terms to the letter.
Yes, he screws that up right from the get.
Can Eve still save her people?
Can she escape Lukas?
The cast here was so tangible! I actually slowed my reading as I neared the 90%
- I didn't want it to end.
Not your average Omegaverse
Looking forward to seeing where this series takes me.

Sexy Love (Sexy #4)Sexy Love by Carly Phillips
Description:
Learning curves have never been so off-limits.
Professor Shane Warden is on the verge of getting tenure. He never thought he'd see the day, after a false accusation from a student years ago that nearly destroyed his career, and decimated his ability to trust. But the moment he walks into class and lays eyes on the seductive blonde with legs that go on forever and lips he immediately wants to kiss, he knows he’s in trouble.
This time for real.
Single mom Amber Davis is finally living her dream of going back to college. In the ten years since she dropped out to have a baby--and recover from his father's death--it's been the goal that always felt just out of reach. Until now. But one look at her hot, sexy professor, and Amber is head over heels in lust. It doesn’t take long before their attraction blazes out of control.
Neither of them can afford a forbidden affair.
Yet it's the one thing they are powerless to stop.
It will only take one hint of a rumor to destroy everything they’ve worked so hard to achieve... and in this case the rumors are true.
My Thoughts 💭:
The story opens with Amber relocating with her son L.J. who gets to spend the summer with his grandparents while Amber settles in and gets accustomed to her new town and returning to school.
Amber's first venture into the small college town finds her a bit lost - but never fear because Shane is here (come on it was cute) and for the first time in a long time Amber finds herself a bit sidetracked.
These two hit it off right away
Maybe they should have shared a bit more personal info?
This is insta-love and it works. I admit I was a bit unhappy with Shane in the beginning. His defensive mechanisms were a bit skewed but he makes up for as their relationship progresses.
Both of them are a bit tentative to dive into uncharted waters especially with their past experiences but thankful the draw they each feel is more powerful than any reservations they may have.
This was another spot-on addition to the 1001 dark nights collection and I found a new series/author that I intend to explore more
