Night's Bliss
The Ancients Book 3
by Mary Hughes
Genre: Paranormal Romance
I
could never trust a vampire. Ever. It wasn’t enough that vampires
killed my parents and left me for dead. Nope, they also left me with
this searing fear of every one of their kind. But when someone I care
about grows sick from poison, I have no choice but to infiltrate a
Romanian castle filled with pissy, evil vampires in search of the
antidote.
And
my only saving grace is that for some reason, I can do things other
humans can’t.
Unfortunately,
I also seem to be the perfect bait for the Vampire King, Kai Elias.
More than seven feet of dark, wicked charisma, ancient eyes, and a
body that holds more power and raw, animal sexuality than I can
resist. But there’s something about Elias that looks painfully,
terrifyingly familiar.
Now
I am in over my head and my heart. And my only choice is to trust
this dark, charismatic creature…or die.

Our Thoughts
One seriously twisted bad guy and his many minions
Two lost souls
A lot of self-deprecation going on with our two MC's
They both are so strong physically but extremely vulnerable emotionally
This is listed as a standalone - which in a way I agree with - For me though I believe reading the first two would have given me an even deeper connection to the cast
Rey was on a mission to save Grayson. She had an edge that no one was aware of and she would only use in an emergency. She would do whatever was necessary to save the man she loved. Even enter the den of an evil vampire packed with his altered minions.
Elias had gone undercover (an example of why I believe that reading the previous books would have given me a closer connection) and now that he had the information he needed he found that he wanted something else even more
And she was currently in grave danger
When fate brings them together (trying to do this without spoilers) they find they must trust the other - even if there was a reason not to
Secrets they have hidden will need to be revealed if they want to survive and save those they love
What proceeds is plenty of action, betrayal, lots of slippery slopes, and the realization that love comes in all forms -
including that of the self
The relationship between our two MCs was intense at times
Rey had to get past her prejudices and Elias had to see himself through fresh eyes
An easy to follow storyline that kept me engaged and wanting more
Great characters and world-building
There was the occasional lull but it was more of an information dump and was not unnecessary filler
I write wickedly fun romantic adventures and steamy paranormal romances, stories that crackle with action and love. Challenging, alpha men--and women not afraid of a challenge. Oh, do the sparks fly when he meets THE woman guaranteed to infuriate and inflame him most.
In real life I'm a USA Today bestselling author, a spouse and mother, a flutist, a computer geek, and a binge-TV-watcher of The Flash, Elementary, NCIS, and Wynonna Earp.
